Sara has been a member of the Helwig team since May of 2018 as an agent specializing in commercial business. She comes with a family history in the insurance industry; her father was a long-time agent in Indiana, PA. She went to work for his agency (Thompson/McLay Insurance) in 2012 where she started off in personal lines.

When the agency was acquired by First Commonwealth Insurance Agency in 2014, Sara transitioned into the commercial insurance division. After taking a small break to be home with babies, she returned to the insurance industry with Erie Insurance in 2017. Since being with Helwig, Sara has obtained her CISR designation and is excited to work toward her other designations.

Sara is actively engaged with her school’s PTA as president and can quite frequently be found volunteering in different capacities from animal rescues to kids team activities to church events. She and her husband, Dan, have two little girls who are actively engaged in swim team, karate, and equestrian sports. They have a rescue pup named Blue Jay they adopted in 2018.
