Connie Bence, the owner of the Helwig Agency, has been in the insurance industry for more than thirty years. She has been licensed in the state of Pennsylvania since 1987 (property and casualty) and obtained the designation of Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) in 1998. She became licensed in life and health (1992) and also maintains non-resident licenses in the states of Florida, West Virginia, and Ohio. In 1996, Connie advanced in earning the industry’s prestigious designation of Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), which confirms her commitment to professional excellence and leadership.

She is a member in good standing with the Indiana Networking Group, Indiana County Chamber of Commerce, and Downtown Indiana.

Connie is also heavily involved in the community. She is a member of the Quota Club of Indiana, which raises funds for various charities throughout the county. She was a board member of the YMCA (2005-2016) and volunteers for many charitable organizations. To name just a few, she assists in the Salvation Army projects, The American Cancer Society (Grocers Fight Cancer), the United Way, Treasures for Children, and also recruits and schedules volunteers for the annual Teddy Bear Fundraiser, a well-known tradition that collects monies for the Free Care Fund, Children’s Hospital, Pittsburgh, and the Indiana Regional Medical Center’s Pediatric wing.

Her selfless giving and involvement have not gone unnoticed as she was nominated and awarded the Women’s Civic Leader of the Year in 2013 and also was honored with the Indiana Athena Award in 2021.

Connie thrives on activity. She is an avid golfer (hole in one, 2021), she loves to travel and has been known to zip line in Brazil, go dog sledding in Colorado, and participate in the Polar Bear Plunge! One of her core beliefs is that time spent with family and friends is time well spent.
